I doubt that anyone following me is confused about this, but I need to reiterate that this is an “All the fictional women you* hate” appreciation blog. 

You don’t have to be a huge fan of all these women.  You don’t have to like all these women.  Please do not bash these women for basic ass reasons.  It’s transparent, it’s boring, and (at it’s worst) it’s misogynistic and/or racist. 

*You as in fandom at large

So, um. @unicornicopia - if you think my rant is irrelevant or something, (since I’m only planning to talk about one of these ladies) tell me and I’ll post it seperately. :)

Since I’ve been rereading all the Harry Potter books… why THE HELL do people hate Cho Chang? I was thinking about it for hours in the morning before I decided to reblog this and add my thoughts. I seriously hate it when people bash characters, but I realised that it really annoys me when it comes to Cho Chang.

They say she’s a cry-baby or a drama queen or a girly girl or anything (besides, what’s wrong with girly girls?! For goodness’ sake!). Let’s talk about her for a bit: When she was about 15-16, her boyfriend was murdered by the Dark Lord. Just think how terrible and scarring that must have been for her! Then she starts to have feelings for Harry, but she feels like she’s betraying Cedric’s memory and it’s all confusing and unsettling! And when she does date Harry, people (namely Pansy Parkinson and other Slytherin girls, and probably others, too) comment on it and talk about her dead boyfriend and also talk about how she has a fancy for famous wizards. Just. Think. Of. How. She. Must. Feel. Think of how you’d feel in her place before judging.

Also, as I was thinking about how she’s kind of indifferent, I realised that she’s not really that much. The narrative doesn’t focus on her a lot, but what we know about her is:
-She’s a Ravenclaw, so she must be very smart and be interested in knowledge and thought in some ways.
-She’s an excellent Quidditch player.
-She joined Dumbledore’s Army, which means she’s actually pretty brave and can feel what’s wrong and what’s right and take her decisions despite of the regulations.
-She defended her best friend when she betrayed the DAs. I don’t think that the act of her friend was right, but I can definitely understand her position and the way she chose to act.
-She came back to Hogwarts to fight the Death Eaters. If you don’t think that’s brave, then I don’t know what you’re talking about.

fuck yeah cho chang dot tumblr dot com much? I don’t care. I see far too much hate about her and I DISAGREE.

Also DON’T GET ME STARTED about the rest of these characters and also LAVENDER BROWN.
